What an amazing time the NEBRC team had at The National Cyber Awards<\/u><\/a> on Monday. We are thrilled that our alumni student Jack Gooday<\/u><\/a> won The Cyber Emerging Talent Award<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are delighted that yet another one of our students has been recognised on a National stage for their great work in the North East region. Jack\u2019s been a student with us for three years and has always been a shining star so this award win is more than deserved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NEBRC provides services to businesses delivered by talented Sheffield Hallam and Norhumbria university undergraduates, in partnership with those at the forefront of evolving technology in our region, to help minimise the risk posed by cyber criminals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jack has also gone onto an excellent position working from the North East as a Penetration Tester at Evalian\u00ae<\/u><\/a> he says:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m delighted to win The Cyber Emerging Talent Award, and thank you to the NEBRC for giving me the opportunity to perform such impactful work for local businesses\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Commenting on the award win, NEBRC Director and Retired Police Superintendent, Rebecca Chapman, said: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI am really pleased to have witnessed Jack Gooday winning the emerging talent award last night in London. We run the student services not just to supply SME\u2019s with reasonably priced cyber security guidance but also to provide relevant work experience for the cyber students chosen to work with us. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“When the students fly the coop we sincerely want them to find great jobs and stay in the region feeding that talent pipeline we always talk about! Jack is a fantastic example of this having worked on our very first FSWA and in the match funding with schools, being involved in the Framwellgate breach which we wrapped around to assist. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“He says that were it not for the work he\u2019s done with us that he wouldn\u2019t have secured the role at Evalian as a pen tester and be living his best life doing a job which is also his hobby! <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This attitude is indicative of the students as a whole and makes the team and I feel not only proud but also very warm and fuzzy about what we do and how we contribute to peoples lives.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
